8 Slot Waveguide Plots
The following simulation was based on the 8 slot waveguide specification found on http://www.wikarekare.org/Antenna/8+8Waveguide.html the values were adjusted to rectangluar aluminium profiles which can be bought locally.
The plots are in mpeg format. The slot cross section corresponds to the second topmost slot in the guide.
Ok... so the wiki hates mpg files... for now here are some pics from the animation. You can't really tell a whole lot from the static images, but they are interesting all the same. The animation shows what is going on much better. From the model we can tell that the antenna is performing as it should, but there seems to be some instability in the wave near the top of the guide. Possibly the dimensions are not quite right and the reflected waves are causing collapses. More simulations will be required.
Cross section of the 2nd top most slot.

4NEC2 is a nice free tool that does finite element modelling of antennae. http://www.nec2.org and http://www.si-list.org/NEC_Archives/swindex.html
