There are different types of Antennas for different types of links

If you're going to be doing point-to-point links, you really should use DirectionalAntennas

If you are going to be setting up a highsite that must cover wide area, you should look into using one or more SectorialAntennas or FlatpanelAntennas

Some plans are avaliable to make CustomAntennas, I do not expect much success from this but it is always worth it to try out.

If you have many nodes in a relatively close area, for example within a town-house complex, OmniAntennas+ are ideal.

This is a very nice pole mount enclosure which will allow you to put a patch antenna in it. It's big enough to house a WRT54 without taking it out the shell. PoyntingEnclosure
