The Biquad design is quite a well known antenna type. I have not built the thing yet, but will be in the next day or so. Initial software models suggest this antenna should yield about 10-12db gain and have about a 60 degree beam width depending on the reflector.

I have used a very modest reflector in the model, I will use something larger in the actual construction which should bring the gain up a bit.

As you can see from the pics, the thing is very simple, basically a figure 8 piece of wire over a reflector. From what I can tell the thing operates much like a set of stacked 1/4 wave dipoles.
