First, you must have contacted some people and arranged to connect to them. Use NodeDB to find someone near you. You'll need a Wireless Access Point that will operate as the Access Point in Infrastructure mode. All Access Points should be able to do this. Encrypted :: If your a linux junkie and you have a compatible card you can do this with a regular PC, try stick with an AP, but if you cant get a hold of one try HostAP (http://hostap.epitest.fi and http://prism54.org) Then you'll need a pigtail that converts the little connector on the back of the Access Point to an N-Type connector. You'll need enough LMR-400 to go between the Access Point and the Antenna that you're planning on using. You'll probably be using SectorialAntennas or FlatpanelAntennas Be sure to read SomeInstallationTips before you start putting everything together. Once you've got everything connected up, you should mount your antenna so that it is covering the area that you want to. Remember, only 1 antenna per AccessPoint+ (even if it has 2 antenna connectors, like the LinkSys). So a typical TransitNode will have 1 or more Antennas covering a large area, and another antenna to link it to a BackboneNode. Use normal network cable to link the AccessPoints+ together. You can assign some testing IP addresses to everything, and once its all running send admin»jawug a request for some IP addresses. Be sure to tell us that you're a TransitNode, and if you're connected to a BackboneNode (and if you are, which one). We'll assign you an appropriately sized subnet, and setup the routing on our Backbone so you'll be able to contact everyone else. Make sure that each BasicNode that links to you has contacted us for an IP allocation too!!
