JAWUG

JAWUG exists purely out of the enthusiasm and generosity of the community. We do not charge any fees to join the JAWUG Network, all you have to cover is the once off cost of your own hardware. Alot of time and effort goes into keeping the JAWUG Network growing.

When the JAWUG core team finds a node that is located in a prime point, we need to be able to upgrade that node to handle a large number of users. This concept of improving the best points will help to keep the network as stable and fast as we can get it, but it does come at a price. Up until now, a few members of the network have injected large amounts of capital for exactely this purpose, but due to the speed of growth, this cannot continue.

We have plans to put up 2 access nodes, one on Dawnview Hill, which will serve client nodes and be a future expansion point for links to Midrand and Pretoria, and another on Northcliff hill, which will serve client nodes andas a transit node for roodepoort and other areas. We would greatly appreciate any form of donation. Below is our wishlist, including prices. If you would like to donate something, please contact the JAWUG Core team and we will be able to put you in touch with the suppliers, or add your donation towards one of the items. Well, Pricing on this hardware has come down quite a bit, so I'll have to redo the wishlist with some more realistic pricing.
