What is link-spamming? RoDent: Simply put, placing links in a Wiki page, that simply links to a forum, or somewhere else without having descriptive text around the wiki, defeats the purpose of a Wiki. A wiki is not a bookmarking system. It's a place to collaborate, and share information. Whilst links aren't BAD, per se`, excessive linking, without descriptions, are. Examples of LinkSpam
The above links MEAN nothing. They're simply links. Whilst some of them might be links to useful information, nobody in their right mind will click on each of those links. There's no "carrot of knowledge" in any of those links. They're just abstract URL's. Examples of good links.
Try to not post raw HTTP urls. Rather wrap them like this: [http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?p=207781 | a link to MyAdsl] In this way, you are contributing actual TEXT to the wiki, instead of just an anonymous URL. Thank you for your patience. And remember, make links count. Don't use this site as a place for bookmarks. If you want to create a page of bookmarks, then do so, but describe the links. Random non-descript links are pointless. Links to Google, or Yahoo too.
