Reason for meeting

Get up to date requirements from users and/ or authorities and continue with the duties as laid out per the constitution. The meeting is closed; allowing MANCOM (Management Committee) members to participate in the meeting and/ or discussion. There is no agenda and each person present will be given a chance to raise their points and lay it before MANCOM.

First up was Graham Beneke.

Graham and Kieran received a complaint from ISPA that we were not fully compliant. The mistakes were that Kieran’s mobile number was not filed and that JAWUG did not display the ISPA logo. These problems have been addressed and are corrected now. ISPA will be testing our abuse address. All e-mails received on the abuse address will be forwarded to the MANCOM mailing address list. Wayne asked for a copy of the application sent to ISPA, which needs to be filed under the JAWUG file.

Graham put to committee that we pay for an IPv6 address block would cost us between R6 000 and R7 000 once off. Xarion suggested that we pay this amount. Wayne seconded the motion. All MANCOM members agreed to pay for the IPv6 address block. Graham to get full invoice amount from AfriNIC and forward to Paul and Xarion.

Next up was Paul Butschi.

Members are asking what the procedure is to apply for funding. Xarion suggested that members create a wiki project page on the JAWUG web site. The projects would be read and discussed on the mailing list and be decided upon. Graham suggested a limit on the projects and suggested a limit of R10 000.

Next up was Kieran Murphy.

A member asked about placing a sector on GC (Grand Central). Xarion contested the idea and explained that GC was a backbone link only site. It was agreed that the users find a suitable highsite and that we will provide a backbone grid to grid link to the new site from GC.

NM (Nashua Mobile)’s contact, Splash, has brought to the attention of Kieran that they are concerned about the content of the packets flowing through their links. Kieran suggested that we start the implementation of JAWUG Credits (jBucks). The more involved a user is, the more jBucks they get credited. Demanding help in IRC would serve as a demerit.
