Troubleshooting Guide
From JAWUG
It's not necessary to be an expert to help troubleshoot a wireless problem and often its the best way to learn!
There are usually two aspects to troubleshooting a network problem. Hardware or software (or both).
One of the most basic tools to figuring out immediately if a link or certain hardware is up is to use ping.
Get the IP address of the distant hardware you want to connect to, open up your router (using Mikrotik you will most likely be using winbox) and click tools, ping.
Tracert can be used to see which way the data is travelling. This is useful if there is more that one path or if you want to see where lag is occuring.
